A typical bed takes up a lot of floor space. Most of us try to squeeze some extra use of that space by pushing containers and flat objects under the bed. In addition, the dust that accumulates on them creates only one mess. A bed bench with storage provides clean, covered storage that is much easier to use. And best of all, it’s easy to build.
The size of a storage bed is affected by more than just the mattress size. Does your bed use drawer springs under the mattress? Box springs can add as much as 12 inches to the height of your bed; this can result in less storage space, or you may need to add a bed stool to get in and out of bed. A platform bed will be much more accessible, or provide more space underneath. You may find it better to build a base that is wider or longer than the mattress, and add bookshelves or cabinets that extend over the mattress to increase your options. Remember that a “storage bed” is not limited to the under-mattress storage.
Types of Storage
Cabinets with doors are a possible type of storage space. Doors can protect objects from dust and prying eyes, and can contain locks if needed. The drawers are very popular for underbid storage. Because the top of the box is open, objects are often easier to reach without getting on hands and knees. The drawers can be mounted using special hardware; Make sure to select images that can handle the weight of the products you intend to store. The drawers can also be simple drawers on wheels or wheels; just put a sufficient handle on the front.
